Op Granby 1991
The Gulf War (1991) by Johnny Jonas commemorates the role of the Sappers during Op Granby. It symbolises the Armoured Engineers support to the advancing Brigades along with the essential logistical work undertaken, as shown by the miles of fuel and water pipeline laid across the desert.
The main fuel line was named the Kinghan Pipe Line Across The Desert in memory of Major Kinghan, the OC of the STRE in charge of its construction, who died in a road traffic accident during the campaign.
The armoured engineer vehicles illustrate the engineer support available to the advancing brigades, while in the back ground can be seen the smoke from burning oilfields in Kuwait.
