RE Officer\'s Sword
Individually made and crafted to order.
The 1897 pattern was the final revision of a sword described as “the best fighting sword ever prescribed for the Infantry officer”. The sword features a 32.5” long, straight, spear pointed carbon steel blade, etched with the Master of General Ordnance coat of arms (historically correct for the Corps) and then further personalised by the addition of the Corps 9 flamed Grenade and Corps title "Royal Engineers".  
The hilt is nickel plated steel, pierced and stamped with a a scroll pattern that incorporates the Royal cypher . The wooden core grip is black dyed fish skin covered with silver plated copper wire.
The  Sword is supplied complete with  a  brown leather sword knot, ‘Sam Browne’ scabbard (first introduced for universal use in 1899 on the eve of the South African War) and sword bag.
Each sword is allocated its own recorded unique serial number, located on the spine of the blade just beneath the hand guard.
It can also be laser-engraved with up to three lines of further personalisation.
