Crimea Memorial Arch
Bronzed Resin copy of the Crimea War Memorial in Brompton Barracks.
The arch was subscribed to by all ranks of the Corps as a memorial to the officers and men who fell in the campaign of 1855-1857.
The foundation stone was laid by the Commander-in-Chief, Field Marshal HRH The Duke of Cambridge on 1st March 1860. (It was During this time that the "Royal Sappers and Miners" became Royal Engineers)
It also commemorates the first eight Victoria Crosses won by members of the Corps, namely: Lt Wilbraham Lennox, Lt Howard Elphinstone, Lt Gerald Graham, C/Sgt Peter Leitch, C/Sgt Henry McDonald, Cpl william Lendrim, Cpl John Ross and Spr John Perie.
